Titel Workshop „Rechtliche Rahmenbedingungen und Koexistenz“
Date 15.03.2011
Time 9:45 – 15:15
Place Haus der Universität, Schlösslistrasse 5, 3008 Bern
Description Präsentation von Resultaten und Diskussion mit Zielgruppen

Titel Symposium on the results of the release trials with genetically modified wheat
Date 27.01.2011
Time 09:00 - 17:00
Place Forschungsanstalt Agroscope, Reckenholzstrasse 191, 8046 Zürich
Organization ART / NFP 59
Description In nine projects, the Wheat Cluster has examined genetically modified wheat featuring an increased resistance to mildew.
Now the results will be presented during a symposium. The following questions are of particular interest:

• Has the genetic modification increased, as expected, the resistance of the tested varieties against mildew?

• How did the genetically modified wheat behave in the field?

• What repercussions did the wheat have on mycorrhizal fungi, on soil bacteria and on insects?

• What influences do the environment and the state of competition in the field have on the genetically modified wheat plants?

• How fit are crossings of wheat with a related wild grass species?

• Were outcrossings with non-genetically modified wheat observed?

The event will also include a discussion of the results. Furthermore, the NRP 59 would like to hear from the involved stakeholders about the relevance of the results for their institutions.
All people affiliated to research, the public authorities, specialized organizations, politics and the specialized press, as well as all other people interested in the subject, are invited to attend.

Closing date for registration: Monday, January 10, 2011

Description Different ways to assess the potential risks of GMO

Risk assessment methods applied today base on a certain number of defined parameters and indicators. Though the data output of these methods is too small to draw conclusions for the whole ecosystem, say some critics. They call for a broader risk assessment. Lectures held in English
